Shinda Ewell

Detroit, Michigan – SoundThought Recordings welcomes Detroit vocalist Shinda Ewell into its ranks.

Born and raised in Detroit, Mich., Shinda, who has been performing professionally for 11 years, learned to sing as a child by hanging out at her father’s band rehearsals. Over the years she has developed a style that ranges from R & B to jazz.

“I’m excited about working with SoundThought Recordings,” says Shinda. “I’m looking forward to what this experience is going to birth, and to using my gift to make great music.”

Shinda sang background at the October 2011 CD release concert for No Goodbyes, SoundThought Recordings owner Inohs Sivad’s third CD. The official contract signing was on May 1, 2012.

“Shinda has such great range and diversity as a singer and performer,” said Sivad. “Working with her her unique sound is going to be a really good creative journey for all of us. She brings a strong jazz foundation to the label that we can appreciate.”

Shinda performs with Armada Soul, and saxophonist Shelby Brown. She was lead singer with David Myles and the Mylestones, The Edge, N’Chanted, and Last Exit. She has also performed as background vocalist for trumpeter Lin Roundtree.
